I hope this letter finds you and yours well! My name is Alisha Beleele and I am the AMS and AHS
Vocal Music Director, which includes Electric Gold. When I stepped into this program 2 years ago, I was delighted to hear of a fantastic fundraising tradition known as: The Pumpkin Roll Fundraiser. I have been honored ever since to uphold this tradition!
It is with regret that I must inform you of my decision to cancel the Pumpkin Roll Fundraiser this
year after careful consideration and advice from Mr. Argo, Mrs. Marteney, Mr. Smith, and the
Electric Gold Booster Club Co-Presidents, Pam Coffman and Kiley Feely. The Alva Public School
District has done a fantastic job of monitoring the COVID-19 situation and as you may know, things tend to change on a daily basis in order to do what is best for our students. I am honored to be in a district that truly puts students first.
The reasoning behind this decision is this: Alva Middle School has gone to Virtual Learning this
week of 11/9-11/13. We require the use of the middle school due to the space and the large
commercial ovens the kitchen has- there is truly no other place in Alva that could support the
system of how we make our Pumpkin Rolls and that could allow ~30 people in at a time. Though we have always run our baking with the best sanitary protocols possible such as wearing gloves and hair nets, we must also think about the global pandemic. We were scheduled to make the pumpkin rolls this weekend: 11/13-11/14, which conflicts with the MS moving to Virtual Learning.
The Pumpkin Roll Fundraiser is what allows Electric Gold to take their annual trip and it has
always been truly amazing to me just how much this community supports this fundraiser and Electric Gold. This year, the Electric Gold Trip will be in state, in March, and we will use the money made from last year’s Pumpkin Roll Fundraiser, because we were not able to take the Electric Gold Trip last year due to the pandemic.
The students and I are extremely grateful for your support and thank you for your purchase of a
famous EG Pumpkin Roll and/or Donation to the program. It is not lost on any of us how much this community cares! This being said, we will happily refund you your money or you may make
it a donation to the program. Truly, it will not be a problem or inconvenience either way. EG
